Ms. McDonough brings nearly 20 years of experience in strategic, political, and litigation communications and crisis management. She has spent her career helping leaders in federal and local government in Washington build their brands, make major announcements, including around litigation, and navigate politically sensitive situations. She brings particular expertise in juggling the communications challenges of reaching diverse audiences, from the urban and suburban communities surrounding the nation’s largest cities to rural communities that dot America’s heartland.
Before joining TLG, Ms. McDonough worked as communications director for DC Attorney General Karl Racine handling strategic communications around high-profile litigation and policy platforms. She previously worked at a strategic communications firm in Washington helping corporate, trade association, and nonprofit clients with internal and external communications and strategic planning, project and crisis management, and message strategy. Ms. McDonough worked for more than a decade on Capitol Hill for two different U.S. senators and a member of Congress, forging unique communications expertise that comes with working for Democrats from “red” states. During this time, she served as the communications director for U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and in lead communications roles for U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA). In each of her roles, she served as a senior advisor and worked directly with elected officials, crafting and executing strategic communications plans nationally and locally, and driving conversations on issues ranging from responsible financial services regulation to sustainable energy development to public safety and beyond.
Ms. McDonough graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history.
