Communications Intern (part-time)

We are seeking ambitious and curious interns who are available to join our fast-paced and energetic team for the spring semester.

Overview:

This is a paid internship open to college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who are interested in building their communications skills in preparation for careers in fields such as public relations, journalism, law, or digital media. You will work closely with members of our team to support a variety of clients, including with content creation, social media, events, editing, media relations, research, and more.

Ideal candidates are available to spend at least 20 hours per week in either our NYC or DC office. Start and end dates are flexible, and a set schedule can be coordinated to fit the intern’s availability.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Interest in financial, legal, policy, and other general business issues

  • Ability to think both strategically and creatively

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Able to plan, problem solve, and prioritize various projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Proficient in social media platforms and Microsoft Office

DIRECTOR/SENIOR DIRECTOR

  • Leading trusted media engagement.

  • Maintaining a current familiarity with key issue areas.

  • Composing compelling memos on a range of substantive issues.

  • Mentoring colleagues and managing teams to achieve business/client objectives.

 Applicants should have superb writing skills, a track-record of success working in dynamic professional services settings, a sophisticated knowledge of the media landscape, and an understanding of communications strategies around complex business and legal matters. Exceptional judgment, integrity, and collegiality are required, and a great sense of humor is essential. A bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of previous experience in government, an agency, professional services firm, and/or in house are preferred.

ASSOCIATE/SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Responsibilities include conducting insightful research, scheduling and other administrative tasks, issue tracking, writing and editing, developing media lists, monitoring media for clients on a broad portfolio of reputation and brand issues at the intersection of media, business, policy, and the law.

A bachelor’s degree is required, and 1-5 years of previous legislative, communications, consulting, or legal experience is preferred. Applicants must possess a drive to solve problems, strong attention to detail, excellent writing and research skills, the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks at once, and a professional demeanor when dealing with clients and colleagues.
